Aikido is a Japanese martial art whose name means "the practice of harmony." It is often called "the martial art of peace." It is a non-competitive, defensive art that uses throws and pins to protect against an attacker. Kids learn aikido by practicing together with partners or in a group. Aikido is an excellent way to improve balance, coordination, and mental focus. It is also a good way to learn to work together with others, make friends, and have fun.
